How we use your details

What we hold, where we got it, who sees it, and how to make us stop.

Who we are

BookedJobs is run by Tony Jones. We decide how your details are used, so the law calls us the controller.

  • Company: A trading name of Talisman Retail Limited.
  • Address: 9/F Amtel Building, 148 Des Voeux Rd, Central, Hong Kong
  • Email: tony@bookedjobs.co.uk
  • Our UK representative: We are arranging a UK representative and will name them here. Until then, write to us at tony@bookedjobs.co.uk.

This page covers trade firms we email, firms that sign up with us, and people who visit this website. If you used a trade firm's booking page, see the last section.

Trade firms we email

What we hold

  • Your firm's name, website, phone number, address and the areas you cover.
  • The names of your company's directors.
  • A work email address for your firm.
  • Notes on your website, such as whether it has a booking form.
  • Your firm's Google rating and number of reviews, if they are public.
  • A record of the emails we sent you, and whether you replied or asked us to stop.

Where it comes from

All of it is public business information: your firm's own website, Companies House (the public list of UK companies), and your firm's public listing on Google.

Why we are allowed to use it

UK data law (the UK GDPR) lets a business use personal details when it has a fair business reason. The use must be needed, and it must not outweigh your rights. This is called legitimate interest.

Our reason is to offer our service to trade firms that might want it. We only use work details. We send no more than four emails, and each one tells you how to stop.

The email rules (PECR) let us email limited companies and LLPs without asking first. We must say who we are and make it easy to stop. We do not email sole traders or partnerships.

How to make us stop

Reply 'no' to any of our emails, or email tony@bookedjobs.co.uk. We stop straight away. We then keep your email address and firm name on a "do not email" list, so we never email you again by mistake.

How long we keep it

If you don't reply, we delete your details 12 months after our last email. We keep the "do not email" list for as long as we send emails, so that it works.

Firms that sign up

What we hold

  • Names, work emails and phone numbers of the people we deal with at your firm.
  • What you give us for your page, such as your logo, prices and the areas you cover.
  • Your bills and payments.
  • Our emails and messages with you.

Why we use it

We need these details to run your page and keep our deal with you. We also have to keep bills and payment records by law.

Payments

Card payments go through Stripe. Stripe handles your card details, and we never see the full card number. Stripe has its own privacy notice at stripe.com/gb/privacy.

How long we keep it

For as long as we work together. After that, we keep bills and payment records for 7 years, as Hong Kong law asks for business records, and delete the rest.

People who visit this website

This website sets no cookies and has no tracking or ads.

If you switch to dark mode, your browser remembers that choice on your device. It is not sent to us.

Its fonts come from Google Fonts, so Google sees your device's address when a page loads.

Like any web host, ours keeps short logs of visits, such as the address of your device. These help keep the site safe and working.

Who else sees your details

We never sell your details. A few service firms handle them for us, such as the firms that send our emails and texts, host our pages and take payments. They may only use your details to do that job for us.

The service firms we use: Google (email and files, through Google Workspace), Vercel (hosts this website and the booking pages), ElevenLabs (makes the voice for our walkthrough videos, so it sees the first name of the person we write to) and Stripe (takes card payments from firms that sign up). We will add any other firm here before we use it, such as a texting service.

Where your details are kept

We are based in Hong Kong, and some of our service firms are in other countries, such as the USA. So your details may be sent or kept outside the UK.

When they are, we use the safeguards that UK law asks for: the data protection terms each service firm agrees with us. Vercel's terms use the UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Google's terms use standard contractual clauses, or another transfer method that UK law accepts. We protect the details we hold in Hong Kong in the same way.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • send you a copy of what we hold about you,
  • fix anything that is wrong,
  • delete your details,
  • stop using them.

Email tony@bookedjobs.co.uk. We will reply within one month.

If you are not happy with how we deal with it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Booking pages we run for trade firms

If you used a trade firm's booking page to ask about a job, that firm is in charge of your details. Please ask the firm first. We run the page for them and only use your details to do that.

Changes to this page

If we change how we use details, we will update this page and the date below.

Our terms cover the deal with firms that sign up.
